Poems by Cecile OumhaniCecile OumhaniInk TravellerYou search
at the edge
for those alleys of words
where a wingbeat
trembles
lost beneath the sky
brightness of dazzled water
in your thirsty gaze
a slow utterance
in the river's night
where in love with words
which break your voice
you read the world
drawn on the upturned palm
of the poem
LandscapeWhat dials does the sky
draw for the stars
high above the sleeping earth ?
shutters half open
on your garden
you dream of dahlias
bending over their stems
as far as the eye can see
the scarlet heads soon vanish
immersed in your sleep
dawn is punctual
as you sit at the window
and drink to oblivion
the long rustle of wings
where unknown shores
light up tomorrow
further away
Silent FallThe day leaves you
bereft of the curves
bemoaning a bygone hour
the even sphere of a fruit
at the tips of your fingers
red flame
raw flesh
at the top of your shoulders
its fall slices silence
rough blade of waiting
long thread of opening
tastes decline
premise of colour
to the vast murmuring
of a buried world
Passersby in the Dead of NightPassersby in the dead of night
seeking a tree
where we might touch the clouds
we go our way
strewn with visions and words
the secret thread of that journey
where to spell out to the shadows
what we are
the song wells up
deep within us
the wind’s familiars
poems smitten with the river
where the world flows on
