Gwen DubeauPoems by Gwen DubeauFire DanceIn eyes cast aside
memories seep
fading from a once stable mind.
Candle burns down to wick's end
no return, blown out, forgotten.
Fighting and flighting
on broken, bent wings, take flight.
Lies told, I hear them shriek
speaking truth no one wants to hear
no one is listening.
They burn for change
they fly onward.
Dark Day FusedLight and dark, together they twist, mix and brew.
Rain does fall, shiver delivered to the deepest bone.
Alone in this darkness, I feel at home.
A candle could burn, moments dash as they pass.
Deeper into the darkness I dwell. I feel you near,
you nestle and stare.
Forever you care and tear at the strings of my heart,
a puppet I am, no pain, no worry, no descending tears.
I love you I claim, I don't try to own you or change you.
You are too strong for that now.
You give me a glimmer, just a little shimmer, of hope.
My love brims all the way to rim, I let go of all fear.
Ocean BeatSitting warm on a distant shore,
sun warming the skin.
Birds flutter through the sky,
hearing their songs echo in my head.
Ocean waves splash and crash around our feet,
fine sand tickles and prickles our toes as we pass.
Taste of salt heavy on our lips and face.
Memories rushing back,
taking me to time spent long ago on this very shore.
Hair shimmers under the warm light,
reflecting heat rising up off the hot earth.
We stay in the waves, taking it all in.
Daylight will soon end, making us move along.
Waves knock us around, sand in our hair,
memories rushing to mind, smiles spreading across our faces.
Left with love in our hearts and peace in our minds,
the ocean has the power to heal and remedy the soul.
Flight of FriendshipBusy day encircle our lives,
we ebb, we flow, sometimes deep into the night.
Feelings linger deep within,
people come and go,
each a lesson, letting us in.
Some make us whole,
others make us burn.
Strong they are,
from them we learn.
I choose to stay,
smiling and happy,
long past the moment you walked away.
A friendship happens like a bright new dawn.
Paying respect to this flowering fawn.
We trip, we fall, we laugh, we love.
Pain and fear only, keep us from accepting loss.
What we need in the end,
from friendship good or bad,
is growth from within..it's alright to be wrong.
Steel GullLarge iron bird, made of steel.
Fuel filled, locked and sealed.
Upon iron wings we soar above the clouds,
travel over land and sea for miles.
A wonderful trip you gave to me,
home is where I must be.
I sit back and wait.
Enough gadgets in front of me,
I imagine I am the co-pilot.
Telling us where we are,
where we are going and how long to get there.
Traveled so far, in this gullet of metal.
Heading for home with a pocket full of foreign change
and a mind full of sweet memories.
We sore together, upon iron wings,
a trip I will remember forever.
